Summary
I’d been battling Daniel to see who had the greatest self-control for far too long, and I wanted to surrender.
My notes
I love this. I 100% know they eventually collided after a moment similar to the one in Unending – just like it happens in this story. Vala will finally need to make a move because while she’s as scared as Daniel, she can’t help but feel her feelings. Daniel will shove what is happening down into his comfortable pit of denial until he is forced to accept the reality of what’s between them, and because he’s stubborn in his defense mechanisms, he won’t let go without a fight. She won’t be able to pretend she’s not hurt from a rejection of a genuine attempt on her part because of how difficult it is for her to be emotionally vulnerable, and Daniel won’t be able to convince himself it’s just a game to her anymore because of her reaction. Things will then of course unfold as they tend to.
