The Boy on the Beach multiverses

Fandom: The X-Files
Rating: Explicit
Word count: 50,000-100,000 (Novel)

Summary

One moment she was sitting in the chair. Her chin up, her expression ice. And the next moment she was gone.

No one had to tell Mulder something had gone wrong. No one had to tell him the difference between having Scully and lacking Scully. In that distinction he was expert.

My notes

This is incredible and one of my favorite AUs. Scully gets thrown back into November 1973 as an adult, but as her 1999 self, and she becomes determined to save Samantha before she disappears. In 1999, Mulder is still recovering from brain surgery and their relationship is in that tense place between friendship and intimacy. While Scully is getting to know 1973 Fox and his sister, she muses on the boy he was and how losing his sister affected his life and his relationships, and where her place is in his life.
