Summary

Daniel and Vala discover that letting the NID deal with Athena is easier said than done. A Memento Mori sequel that resists simple classification.

My notes

Both an interesting mission fic and a fun exploration into SG-1’s team bonding and banter-y shenanigans, of which I’m always a fan. The slow burn is delicious, heartwarming, and delightful, as D/V is wont to be. It’s worth highlighting the line “I’ve been so afraid of falling in love again that it took me a while to realize it was too late”, as it’s the most simplified and poetic way I’ve heard Daniel’s approach to his journey with Vala put.

P.S. The hotness of the flirting that occurs during the emergency medical procedure near the end is completely bonkers.

P.P.S. A hundred points to Daniel for the best burn:

“And I repeat the question. Vala, in case you somehow failed to notice, she had me chained to the headboard in my underwear.”

Daniel snorted. “Who hasn’t?”
