Daniel touches a mysterious crystal (which is just so Daniel) and starts experiencing various alternate realities and timelines his life might take. He looks at her then, really looks at her, and she knows he is seeing all the cracks in her, all the places she is broken and doesn’t quite fit together anymore, all the things she tries to hide . . . Funny how, now that she starts to see them, the cracks in him look a lot like the cracks in her.
They’ve both been through so much. The question is, will it bring them together or irrevocably push them apart?
Daniel and Vala learn how to get along. Be friends, even. They insist that’s all there is to it. They’re wrong.

2012 – And there she was, the star to his wand’ring bark, forever guiding his thoughts to her, to home. Time had moved on since he saw her (far too much time), but she was as he remembered (constantly imagines): beautiful, elegant, arms full of books, of course. His stomach flipped.
2016 – She had no job, no partner, no home. Adrift in every aspect of her life. She felt battered by self-doubt and dissatisfaction; one too many hits were pulling her beneath the waves and threatening to drown her.
But then there he was. Her ever-fixed mark, unshakeable when faced with her tempests.
The bits post-series/pre-AYITL and during AYITL that we didn’t get to see. AYITL-compliant, but complete wish-fulfilment on my part about who the baby daddy is!
I feel this is more story with added sex rather than straight forward smut, but what sex there is IS explicit, hence the rating. But there’s lots of heart, stolen glances, things unsaid, things said, fluff, love and pining thrown in there.

This is just so achingly beautiful and perfect. This one leaves me warm and fuzzy. Great characterization too. Just. Ugh.
General Hammond has always believe himself to be a good judge of character, which is why, after an alien space pirate hijacked the Prometheus, he decides to offer the eccentric space pirate a chance to join the SGC, using Daniel Jackson as an incentive to persuade her. He also interested to see how things play out between her and a certain archeologist.

Really well-paced and has excellent mission storylines. I love the premise of Vala being drawn into the fold right after Prometheus Unbound by Hammond.
