So Then

An alternate ending for The Shroud that’s somewhat light on plot, but heavy on the fruitcake.

My notes:

A lovely little moment set near the end of The Shroud where Vala welcomes Daniel back home and can’t hide how she’s worried for him. One of my favorite quotes: Vala could light up rooms with that smile. No, that cliché was inadequate — she could light up planets. Whole planets.

The Sudden Stop

When Tom and B’Elanna are falsely convicted of an act of terrorism and thrown into an alien prison, they have to rely on each other until Captain Janeway and the crew of Voyager can rescue them. They revisit old ghosts and form unexpected bonds while they fight to survive, but being back on Voyager doesn’t necessarily mean they feel safe again.

My take on The Chute and its aftermath, leading into The Swarm.

My notes:

A really fantastic take on the premise “What if it was Tom and B’Elanna imprisoned in The Chute?” The author immerses you in what living through that experience would have truly been like, and how it would impact Tom and B’Elanna’s relationship with each other, both during and afterward. The Mesas of Deuteronilus Mensae

Dr. Dana Scully is a last minute replacement amongst the crew of the first human colony on Mars. Dr. Fox Mulder, fellow scientist and crew psychologist, is immediately intrigued.

My notes:

Amazingly well researched AU about Mulder and Scully being among the first pioneers to colonize Mars. Mix in some suspense and some will they won’t they space sex and you’ve got the perfect AU.

Daniel and Vala’s grown child carries the crystal back in time, and then has to figure out how to belong in our world. Unending AU. D/V. OC. All the team is there.

My notes:

This is a really thoughtful, introspective AU that explores the premise that, instead of Teal’c, Daniel and Vala’s grown son Kieran comes back in time and has to find a place for himself in this now altered timeline. His interactions with each member of SG-1 are nuanced and do each character justice, while intro... Read more

Vala Mal Doran steals a cargo ship, but wrecks it on a backwater little farm planet whose people don’t even speak a dialect she can understand. Fortunately, there is a stranger living among them who is able to translate. He arrived on that planet in a flash of light only months before, and has yet to remember who he is. When a conversation with the incorrigible thief leads him to remember his name, Daniel agrees to travel with her through the Stargate to find his past.

Rediscovering Odysseus

The memories still didn’t quite feel like hers – like she was watching a film of another person’s life, knowing how they felt and why they felt it, but never quite actually living it. Spoilers for all of SG-1, AU as of the end of S4 of SGA.

My notes:

I love this AU so hard. I love the idea of SG-1 following Daniel to Atlantis, and Sam and Vala starting to remember their years on the Odyssey because of the naquadah in their blood. The way Vala responds to all of this new insight into her life with Daniel is quite nuanced and in character, and how she eventually confronts... Read more

The Many Paths of Daniel Jackson

Written by evrymeeveryyou
Rating: Teen and up

Every possibility, every choice I had ever made, even choices I hadn’t, led to an entirely different life until I could no longer tell reality from its alternates.

My notes:

Daniel touches a mysterious crystal (which is just so Daniel) and starts experiencing various alternate realities and timelines his life might take. Not being able to discern what’s real as he’s living each moment, it sends him spiralling gradually into madness as SG-1 (plus Jack) tries desperately to save him. ... Read more

The Boy on the Beach multiverses

One moment she was sitting in the chair. Her chin up, her expression ice. And the next moment she was gone.

No one had to tell Mulder something had gone wrong. No one had to tell him the difference between having Scully and lacking Scully. In that distinction he was expert.

My notes:

This is incredible and one of my favorite AUs. Scully gets thrown back into November 1973 as an adult, but as her 1999 self, and she becomes determined to save Samantha before she disappears. In 1999, Mulder is still recovering from brain surgery and their relationship is in that tense place between friendship and intimacy... Read more

Judge of Character

General Hammond has always believe himself to be a good judge of character, which is why, after an alien space pirate hijacked the Prometheus, he decides to offer the eccentric space pirate a chance to join the SGC, using Daniel Jackson as an incentive to persuade her. He also interested to see how things play out between her and a certain archeologist.

Smidge of J/S.

My notes:

Really well-paced and has excellent mission storylines. I love the premise of Vala being drawn into the fold right after Prometheus Unbound by Hammond. I always thought we never got to see enough of Vala and the way she so seamlessly integrated into SG-1. I love how this slight venture into AU territory makes the beginning... Read more
