So Then

An alternate ending for The Shroud that’s somewhat light on plot, but heavy on the fruitcake.

My notes:

A lovely little moment set near the end of The Shroud where Vala welcomes Daniel back home and can’t hide how she’s worried for him. One of my favorite quotes: Vala could light up rooms with that smile. No, that cliché was inadequate — she could light up planets. Whole planets.

Taking You With Me

Vala has come to the realisation that Daniel will never have feelings for her. Moving on is easier said than done, especially if Daniel has anything to say on it.

My notes:

I love how anti-climatic Vala’s ‘realization’ that Daniel will never want to be with her is. She doesn’t flee or do something dramatic, she just asks Cam to give her some space from Daniel at the SGC so she can try to get over him. That, of course, isn’t sustainable long-term, and Vala has noti... Read more

On the First Day

Rating: General audiences

The twelve days of Christmas are generally typified by two people giving and receiving certain gifts to each other. Sometimes not even on purpose.

My notes:

The sexual tension in this story is bonkers. They capture both Daniel and Vala’s personalities and the flirty, cautious, defensive little dynamic between them so well. I checked if there was a sequel about Daniel and Vala’s week off at his place—because, honestly, I need that in my life—but it sadly does not... Read more

The Unending Story

Stories of life aboard the Odyssey while SG-1 and General Landry were stuck in the time-dilation bubble of the episode “Unending”.

My notes:

A 3-part series that starts by following Daniel and Vala during “that scene” in Unending in part 1 (A Love-Hate Thing), then showing the rest of the team observing the changes in D/V’s relationship in part 2 (Cats, Candles, and Confessions), culminating in the meatiest part of this series (part 3 – I... No Place Like Home

Daniel and Vala discover that letting the NID deal with Athena is easier said than done. A Memento Mori sequel that resists simple classification.

My notes:

Both an interesting mission fic and a fun exploration into SG-1’s team bonding and banter-y shenanigans, of which I’m always a fan. The slow burn is delicious, heartwarming, and delightful, as D/V is wont to be. It’s worth highlighting the line “I’ve been so afraid of falling in love again that it took... Read more

No Turning Back

I’d been battling Daniel to see who had the greatest self-control for far too long, and I wanted to surrender.

My notes:

I love this. I 100% know they eventually collided after a moment similar to the one in Unending – just like it happens in this story. Vala will finally need to make a move because while she’s as scared as Daniel, she can’t help but feel her feelings. Daniel will shove what is happening down into his comfor... Read more

T-Minus Forever

Daniel and Vala’s relationship has grown in the past month since they’d discovered just how much they mean to each other aboard the all but doomed Odyssey. Stuck in a time-dilation field with not much else to do, Daniel is tortured by Vala’s positively indecent dress…

This is set during S10 E20: Unending, in the time-dilation field aboard the Odyssey, a month after that pivotal scene where Daniel and Vala FINALLY get together.
