An alternate ending for The Shroud that’s somewhat light on plot, but heavy on the fruitcake.
My notes:
A lovely little moment set near the end of The Shroud where Vala welcomes Daniel back home and can’t hide how she’s worried for him. One of my favorite quotes: Vala could light up rooms with that smile. No, that cliché was inadequate — she could light up planets. Whole planets.
Being a typical mother brings it own special set of emotions. Being the mother to the Orici brought not only those, but an extra dose of complicated emotions – ones not so easily navigated. A look at the inner turmoil Vala Mal Doran must have felt over the child she never got to keep. Vala centered with team/friendship, and some Daniel/Vala sprinkled in.
My notes:
Sigh. I love them. And I love our girl Vala. She deserves Daniel and Daniel deserves her and they deserve everything they want in life. This is a great ‘moments in time’ piece showing some key moments through season 10, AoT, and beyond that drew Daniel and Vala together.
Daniel and Vala discover that letting the NID deal with Athena is easier said than done. A Memento Mori sequel that resists simple classification.

Both an interesting mission fic and a fun exploration into SG-1’s team bonding and banter-y shenanigans, of which I’m always a fan.
